What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine which involves the placement of needles along certain energy pathways in the body. When the energy gets blocked or loses its connection needling can help resolve this.
In modern scientific terms, needling specific points leads to the release of chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain which help with pain, organ function and can stimulate healing.
Conditions acupuncture is used to treat:
Acupuncture is used primarily to treat painful conditions. These may include arthritis, neurologic conditions such as intervertebral disc disease and degenerative myelopathy, nerve injuries, paralysis, lameness, and ligamentous/tendon injuries. It can also be used to treat certain gastrointestinal conditions, cardiac and respiratory issues, urinary tract and kidney disease, anxiety disorders and some metabolic and immune diseases.
